Fraud Awareness

Protect your trading account and funds by implementing some important precautions.

Protect your personal data online

Fraudsters move with the times, and with the internet becoming an increasingly important part of our daily lives, there are certain practices you should follow to keep your data safe.

Clicking links and attachments:

Always verify the source before you click on a link or attachment. Fraudsters often use sophisticated communication methods to mimic legitimate bank organisations, utility providers, or tax services. Make sure to check for spelling errors or unusual email addresses. If in doubt, don’t click.

Secure websites:

Always ensure that websites display the secure 'https' protocol in their URL, which indicates that all communications with the server are encrypted and protected. If there is no secure browsing mode, the site may be vulnerable to hackers and cyberattacks.

Passwords:

Use unique, complex passwords with a combination of lower and upper-case letters, numbers and symbols. Change them often.

Spot fake domain names:

Be cautious and steer clear of any websites claiming to represent legitimate and reputable companies but were only created recently. An example of a fraudulent Axi domain is axiau.pro.

Internet security package:

Ensure you have internet security in place but remember that no software can provide 100% protection. To enhance your security, all the other precautionary steps should still be followed.

Privacy Settings:

Review the privacy settings on your social media accounts on a regular basis and control what information is publicly visible. For maximum security, it is best to only allow friends to see your posts, comments and profile information.

Simiarly, while options like 'Sign Up with Facebook' or 'Sign Up with Google' are time-effective and convenient, try and avoid logging into other sites using your social media credentials.

Social media and fraud awareness:

Specific guidelines regarding your account with Axi

Make deposits to your trading account only through the payment methods and bank information found within our secure client portal.

All our bank accounts are in our name (or a name of one of our Group of Companies). Never transfer money to an account in an individual’s name or to an unfamiliar company.

Never share your banking or personal information via SMS or WhatsApp. We will never request such information through any of these channels.

If you receive unexpected communication by phone, email, text or WhatsApp from someone claiming to be from Axi, please seek verification from us directly, using the contact information provided in our official website: www.axi.com/eu.

Individuals Impersonating the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (“the CySEC”)

CySEC has, from time to time, detected cases of fraudulent impersonation of CySEC Officers and representatives where imposters request information from the email recipients, or solicit fees, in exchange for settlement of bogus compensation claims related to firms under CySEC supervision.

Investors should remember that CySEC never sends unsolicited correspondence to investors or members of the public, nor does it ever request any personal data, financial data, or otherwise. Investors are strongly advised to contact CySEC to confirm the authenticity of any such communication by contacting info@cysec.gov.cy before taking any action.

CySEC has issued multiple public warnings when similar cases occur, which are published on its website, such as this warning. You can find the up-to-date CySEC warning list here.
